From 1991 the Danish Meteorological Institute has operated and weather
station on the middle of the Greenland ice cap at 3000m altitude,
called SUMMIT. The staff carries out different weather and climate
research throughout the year and it´s pretty amazing that someone wants
to spend the winter there…!
We´been busy booking trips next season and many dates are sold out. Dates in April, June and July are almost full, so you better act fast if you want to get a space in 2008 season.
On the 14. September, about twenty people ascended Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps (4807m) with heavy loads and a goal of becoming the first people to have a hot bath on the top…
Our good friend and former owner of AURORA, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, is getting ready to race single handed around the world. He was the first person to sail single handed and non stop around the world in 1969 on his 33 ft wooden ketch Suhaili. His record voyage then was 312 days and is described in Robins excellent book “A world of my own”.
