Fossavatn cross-country ski marathon set for May 3rd 2008

Established in 1935, the Fossavatn Ski Marathon is the longest running sports event in Iceland. It is also by far the biggest ski race in the country with almost 250 participants, whereof 30-50 are overseas visitors. In 2004 the main distance of 50 km was launched, added to the traditional 20 km, 10 km and 7 km. All distances are done in classic style.

If you join us on trips in early May you should check out the Fossavatn ski marathon and look at joining this fun event.

Like last year there will be a weekend training-camp in Ísafjörður in late November.  It is now set for November 23-25th. The Norwegian cross country ski coach Ashild Hove will be there and help people refine their skills with special focus on preparations for long distance ski races. Contact fossavatn@fossavatn.com for further information.
