Our luxury camp in Hornvík Bay
Hornvik Bay is truly the gem of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. This bay is home to roughly six million sea birds in the summer and two of the biggest bird cliffs in the North Atlantic. This is the kingdom of the Arctic fox, that roams the mountains and the sand beaches in search for food. Enjoy the beautiful scenery around you from our camp in Hornvík Bay.
After Hornstrandir was abandoned in the 40’s, nature has retaken the land. With no roads or domesticated animals, the area is covered by the diversity of wild flora and millions of sea birds, and of course the rare and protected arctic foxes.
The many beautiful hiking routes out of Hornvik Bay makes our camp a very strategic destination to enjoy the best that the area has to offer.
The combination of the wild landscape from mountain tops to the sea, the solitude, and the abundance of wildlife, makes this a very unique area in Iceland.
Our basecamp in Hornvik is truly a haven for adventurers that want more comfort during their travels. Big and spacious sleeping tents with insulation and cots are a real treat. Our heated mess tent is perfect for warm meals, hot drinks, and sharing stories after a great day out in nature.
Adventures and Services in Our Basecamp in Hornvik
Our basecamp is available to stay in on our guided tours, such as Traverse, Lost Fjords and Heights and Sights. The camp will be available to book from the 3rd to the 8th of August 2026 for individual photographers and travellers, and it is also available for private group bookings of 6 or more guests, send us an email to enquire about availability!
